My Teaching Philosophy

Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.

-Albert Einstein

  • The Teacher

It is my personal belief that the relationship between the teacher and the student in the learning environment is not one of master and subject, but rather of more and less experienced. The primary goal of the teacher is to bridge this gap until the student and the teacher are indistinguishable in skill.

  • The Student

It follows, then, that the primary goal of the student is to facilitate this transformation, and to be receptive to the acquisition of experience. I only work with students who are willing to put in the effort to learn, and truly desire to improve themselves both inside and outside of the classroom.

  • The Results

From this student-teacher relationship, even more than the acquisition of skill and experiences is obtained. The students brings their own personal stories and ideas to the subject, just as a street artist paints a preestablished building with their stories and ideas, and synthesizes something new altogether.
